Health Should Improve With Smoking Ban in Spain

February 17th, 2010 . by admin

I was amazed to read recently that some people who normally go to Spain for their holidays will stop going there and go somewhere else instead. The reason? Because of the proposed smoking ban in Spain to begin this summer, affecting smokers in public places. Hold on! So they want the right to inflict their filthy habit on others do they? Consider just some of the damage smoking does – Nicotine raises blood pressure and makes the blood clot more easily. Carbon monoxide robs the blood of oxygen. Result? Increased likelihood of a heart attack. Smoking causes chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), for which there is no known cure. Blood circulation can be affected by smoking, resulting in veins and arteries getting narrower.  Smokers are more likely to get damage to their stomach area which can affect their vital organs, increasing their chances of getting stomach cancer or ulcers.
