RDEA594 a New drug for gout
February 28th, 2010 . by adminThe code name for a promising latest gout drug that is at present undergoes clinical trials is the RDEA594. A problem of too much uric acid that circulates in the blood is what is known as gout. As a result of that, the body tries to compensate by removing the uric acid as crystals into the joint. The cause of the pain in gout is the crystals that create an inflammatory response. This RDEA594 is selective URAT1 transporter inhibitor that blocks a pathway that leads to the creation of the uric acid. The blood levels of uric acid are reduced as the uric acid production is blocked, so there will be reduced risk of a gout attack.
